Due to recent severe frosts in Turkey dried apricot prices are set to increase.Dried-Garland-Apricots

As the largest supplier of dried apricots globally Turkey produced  around 795,000 tonnes of apricots in 2012. Most of these apricots are from the region of Malatya which was hit with heavy frosts during March.

Due to warmer than usual temperatures during January the flowers bloomed much earlier in turn making them more susceptible to frost damage.  An 80% decrease in crop is predicted and experts expect the price of dried apricots to increase significantly due to the reduced crop.
